Dear Congressman Good,

The Coalition for Human Rights & Democracy in Bangladesh (CHRD Bangladesh), a US registered non-profit organization, has the honor to express its profound gratitude for the kind letter you and your colleagues sent to President Joe Biden on May 17, 2013 requesting stronger sanctions against the administration of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh.

The letter was very explicit in detailing the reasons why stricter sanctions were needed. The Sheikh Hasina administration does not seem to care about the earlier sanctions imposed by the United States in December 2021, and has continued its unabated violations of human rights and democratic practices. CHRD Bangladesh considers it a deliberate insult to the US, which is the largest donor for Bangladesh in Asia and the biggest buyer of the country’s Readymade Garments (RMG), the mainstay of the Bangladesh economy. The US stands out far ahead of other countries in helping the troubled country in many other ways. Yet, Sheikh Hasina does not spare an opportunity to make derogatory gestures at the hands that feed her country, in addition to calling senior US officials names when they try to advise her to mend her wrong governing ways.

Dear Congressman Good, CHRD Bangladesh would also like to convey, through you, its sincere thanks to your other colleagues and supporters for the important letter to the president.

Finally, CHRD Bangladesh would also like to request you, other co-Congressmen and the Congress at large, to follow up the landmark request letter for its early implementation.

Sincerely,

The Coalition for Human Rights & Democracy in Bangladesh
