CHRD Bangladesh thanks the United States State Department for condemning the offensive comments made by two high officials of the BJP regarding Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
The BJP is Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu ultra-nationalist party. It is regularly involved in acts of Islamophobia and targeted injustice against Muslims and other minorities in India.
In a press conference on June 16, 2022, Ned Price, the spokesman for the United States Department of State said:
“We condemn the offensive comments made by two BJP officials and we were glad to see that the party publicly condemns those comments.” He continued to say, “We encourage India to promote respect for human rights.”
CHRD Bangladesh greatly appreciates the position of the US State Department for supporting the freedom of religion, respecting people of all faiths and appreciating the sensitivities of Muslims around the world.
