Imran Ansary, the Secretary of CHRD Bangladesh, met with several Members of the United States Congress in Washington, D.C. in order to discuss the implementation of anti-Islamophobia measures. During Mr. Ansary’s meetings with members of the US Congress, he highlighted the harsh and inhumane impacts of the rising Hindutva, anti-Muslim ideology in India under the BJP government.
The talks also included the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and Uyghur Muslims in China. Mr. Ansary strongly suggested to the lawmakers to co-sponsor the Senate bill 3384, the Combatting International Islamophobia Act.
Mr. Ansary met with Congresswoman Grace Meng, Representative from the 6th. district of New York and Congressman Richie Torres, Representative from the 15th. district of New York. He also met with the chiefs of staff of Congressman Joseph Morelle, Adriano Espailla and Senator Chuck Schumer from New York and the Senate majority leader of the United States Senate.
